Southern Invitational Sale - Successful Day for Riverslea
Riverslea sold bulls to an average of $3125 at the recent Southern Invitational Sale. The bull sale was described as "tough going", however Riverslea were pleased to present affordable, commercially relevant bulls that were prepared on dryland pastures - ready to go home and work.
The commercial sale, on the back of widespread recent rains, was "beyond expectations". Premiums were clearly paid for steers with Santa x Charolais steers fetching up to a staggering $2.75/kg!. The similar cross Riverslea Heifers PTIC to a poll Santa Gertrudis bulls sold to keen bidder competition at $925/head.
Congratulations to Rodwells Rochester & Finley...assisted by a strong sale committee...on the presentation and running of this sale.

Congratulations to Julie Burke who won the "Guess the weight of the Steers" competition at our Spring field day - a $250 voucher. Julie, with her husband Brendan chose a nice young heifer with a stylish heifer calf at foot. A great result - what a bright future this heifer has
and a terrific quiet nature to top it off
Riverslea Stud was thrilled to win the Supreme Santa Gertrudis exhibit with Riverslea Diamond.
Internationally renowned judge Graeme Hopf, put her up over the 3yo bull from SA, commenting on her structural correctness and feminine outlook.
For a team of 4 junior animals to win all of their individual classes; take out Champion Junior Bull & Champion Junior Heifer; win Grand Champion Female and then be awarded Supreme Santa Gertrudis Exhibit was an absolute thrill.

Rockingham B28 is a dark coloured poll bull that is very correct. Alan was quoted in The Land as saying "You know with Rockingham bulls you're buying a quality outfit. It will go home and do the job for you. This bull, with his sire appeal and high fertility traits, will be used over our young heifers."
